5 places for a good science fiction short story
Posted on June 30th, 2008 | by admin |Sometimes you just need to read a good short story to make you feel good about your day. I often don’t get that much time with my busy schedule, which is why you see mostly links and reviews for science fiction podcasts. But when I do have a little time and am in the mood to read something that’s not related to work, then a short story is often what I look for.
Here is a list of 5 websites that offer just that, science fiction short stories available online for reading. The websites listed below contain dozens of stories, so if you have the time, enjoy:
Strange Horizons
This site publishes a weekly short story, and also has excellent articles and reviews. It has a well established fan base and is mentioned in many science fiction fansites.
Science Fiction and Fantasy World
A large site with an excellent searchable index of stories. Readers can rate and comment on stories as well.
Infinity Plus
A British science fiction website featuring many stories, also publishes an anthology of science fiction short stories.
Asimov’s Science Fiction Magazine
Most Scifi fans will recognize this magazine, the magazine’s website features a number of stories as well as Hugo and Nebula award nominees.
East of the Web: Sci.fi Shorts
Another nice large collection of short stories, including many classic authors. Also has links for a portable version of the text if you need to take it on the run.
